After the Washington Capitals scored five unanswered goals to reign victorious over the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday, they’re home once again to take on the Arizona Coyotes.
The Capitals last played the Coyotes back in December, a game they’d like to forget as Arizona came up with a 6-0 shutout win. While the Coyotes had been on quite the hot streak at the time, things have been the exact opposite for the club in recent weeks. They just snapped a 14-game losing streak with a win over the Ottawa Senators on Friday after going winless the entire month of February.
Outside of Ramus Sandin being a game-time decision, the Capitals are expected to ice the same lineup that beat the Flyers.
Today’s game is airing on Monumental Sports Network with Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin on the call. The game can also be watched on NHL Network. Puck drop will be a little after 1 pm.

Nick Bjugstad to the box for tripping at 15:35. Capitals go to their first power play.
Incidental content with Charlie Lindgren washes out another Coyotes goal. Lindgren’s left skate was clipped by a Coyotes player as he skated across the crease.
Capitals lucky to only be down 1 after 20 minutes. Lindgren was fantastic. The Coyotes outshot the Capitals 11 to 7 and out-attempted them 20 to 14 at five-on-five.
2nd Period
Puck is dropped.
Alex Ovechkin stopped on a semi-breakaway.
Rasmus Sandin trips Liam O’Brien along the sideboards at 2:24.
🚨 2-0 Coyotes. Jason Zucker with a tap-in after a brilliant cross-crease pass by Dylan Guenther for his second primary assist of the day. It’s a PPG at 4:06.
Dylan Strome draws a tripping penalty at 4:32 on Karel Vejmelka as he takes the puck hard to the net.
Coyotes hit the post shorthanded.

John Carlson to the box for unsportsmanlike conduct at 14:33.
Dylan Guenther to the box for tripping Tom Wilson on the team’s power play at 14:58.
4-on-4 for 1:35 then an abbreviated power play for the Capitals.
Tom Wilson gets an unsportsmanlike conduct minor and a 10 minute misconduct at 17:40. Dumb! Wilson was caught on TV jawing at either the official or an opponent and would not stop.
🚨 4-1 Coyotes. Dylan Guenther scores on the power play. Dude is dealing out there. Off John Carlson and in. Time of goal 18:01.
It’s not looking good, you guys.
Michael Kesselring to the box for holding Nicolas Aube-Kubel at 19:50.
The Coyotes are outshooting the Capitals 22 to 17 and out-attempting them 37 to 18 at five-on-five. This is not the type of game you can have against an inferior opponent at home when you’re fighting for your playoff lives.
3rd Period
Puck is dropped.
🚨 4-2 Coyotes. Anthony Mantha scores his 20th goal of the season 10 seconds into the third period. Coyotes turn it over in the defensive zone right to Dylan Strome, who sets up Mantha for a one-timer. It’s a PPG.
Highway robbery by Charlie Lindgren on Lawson Crouse wide open in the crease. Wowwww.
Michael Kesselring to the box for tripping Max Pacioretty in front of the net at 11:21.
Tom Wilson negates the rest of the Capitals power play due to a slashing penalty at 11:50.
Barrett Hayton trips Alex Ovechkin along the boards. Capitals to the power play down two goals with three minutes and four seconds remaining.
🚨 5-2 Coyotes. Coyotes seal it with an empty-netter from Nick Schmaltz.
BIG YIKES. Caps lose both games against the Coyotes this season. They are the fifth-worst team in the league.
If this was the season for the Capitals, what a way to go out
