The Washington Capitals will be getting some reinforcements for their important game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night. Both defenseman Nick Jensen and forward Sonny Milano are back in the team’s lineup after they’ve missed the past two games.
With veteran winger Tom Wilson also confirmed to be good to go, this is how the Capitals should look when they take the ice at Capital One Arena.
Jensen had been out with a lower-body injury after careening awkwardly into the boards against the Florida Panthers late last week. Milano was absent due to an illness.
Nic Dowd also took the ice but was still in a non-contact sweater, meaning he won’t be available for selection against Philadelphia. Dowd has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury he suffered on February 20 against the New Jersey Devils.
Ethan Bear, Ivan Miroshnichenko, and Pierrick Dubé all took the scratches skate.
The first goaltender to hop off the ice was Charlie Lindgren as he’s set for his 28th start of the season. Lindgren’s last time in the crease was his worst outing of the year. He stopped just 23 of 31 shots against the Detroit Red Wings in an 8-3 loss.
The Flyers won their last game, a 6-2 beatdown of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. Philadelphia is six points ahead of the Capitals in the standings and could dramatically impact the Capitals’ season with a win as the March 8 trade deadline is now just a week away.
After the New York Islanders leaped over them in the Eastern Conference on Thursday night, the Capitals currently sit 11th in the East.
