The Washington Capitals are in desperate need of a win as they head into TD Garden on Saturday. After six straight losses in a row, the Capitals will need to take down the East-leading Boston Bruins who have won eight of their last 10 games.
After throwing his lines into a blender at practice on Friday, head coach Spencer Carbery appears to be sticking with those changes against Boston. That means that Nicolas Aube-Kubel will be back in the lineup after sitting out healthy against the Florida Panthers and Matthew Phillips will return to the press box.
Carbery announced the change during his brief pregame media availability.
Aube-Kubel came out of the lineup after a game against the Montreal Canadiens that saw him skate the fewest amount of any Capitals player (8:09). NAK had a rough turnover in the first period that handed the Habs the opening goal in what would become a three-goal, first-period hole for Washington.
Phillips was given 8:54 of ice time against the Panthers, the least amount of any Capitals player. He’ll be joined by defensemen Alex Alexeyev and Trevor van Riemsdyk as scratches.

Charlie Lindgren will be back in the team’s net for his second start in February. His first against Montreal ended after just 13 minutes as he allowed three goals on nine shots and was pulled in favor of Darcy Kuemper. Kuemper started against Florida and made 37 stops in the 4-2 loss.
Lindgren does not have a win in his last four starts and is coming off a rough January where he posted a 3.33 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage.
