Tate McRae was all the buzz at the 2024 NHL All-Star game.
From being a co-captain for Team MacKinnon to a superb performance during the All-Star Game, McRae was one of the biggest highlights of Toronto’s All-Star weekend.
The singer, who has 3.2 million followers on Instagram, even interacted with Tom Wilson on the social media site afterward, reposting a video of his and basing a caption on her commentary before his draft pick.
“They’re saying we need to add some grit,” McRae said during the All-Star Player Draft. “So we’re gonna go with Tom Wilson.”
Wilson shared an Instagram compilation of photos and videos from the event, which McRae was quick to repost on her own story, with a very insightful caption reading “lol.”
McRae went on to share her own post, this time captioning it “This team needs some grit.”
The singer’s All-Star jersey donned a number eight, which seems to be her lucky number (we get it), and it definitely worked some magic this weekend.
The draft was not the only time McRae spent on the main stage over the weekend. In between periods, she owned center stage, at center ice, performing a few of her biggest songs.
Tom Wilson and Mitch Marner made sure to not miss the performance, snagging front row seats.

Her act began with her hit song Exes, which has over 148 million hits on Spotify to date. The track is from her sophomore album Think Later, which she released in early December.
She closed out the show with her hit song Greedy, her first Top-10 Billboard hit.

After the game, Nathan MacKinnon gifted the singer a a personalized Avalanche Jersey, featuring her name and a number 24.

Upon leaving the arena, McRae was seen with rapper Kid Laroi. The two were holding hands making an exit that sparked quite the conversation. Not only did McRae’s attendance to the weekend seem like a big slap in the face to her ex in Cole Sillinger, but adding a new man in to the equation at the end? That was a play even we didn’t see coming.

McRae may be one of the world’s only women to say that they made it to the NHL All-Star game before their NHL player ex-boyfriend, and fans seemed to love it.
All-in-all, even if Team MacKinnon didn’t win the weekend, McRae may have.
