It’s unclear if Backstrom, who is going through concussion protocol, will be able to suit up for Game Four on Tuesday. The Capitals trail the New York Islanders 3-0 and are trying to avoid being swept.
Reirden added that he needs to see how Backstrom, who is in the concussion protocol, fared today and proceed from there. It's possible Reirden will have another update following tomorrow's morning skate. #Caps https://t.co/u9ooGUsUgD

Backstrom was injured in the opening minutes of Game One after Islanders’ captain Anders Lee nailed Backstrom in the chest with a late, blindside hit.
Absent from practice and all of Game Two, Backstrom returned to practice on Saturday but was unable to suit up for Game Three the next day.
