The Washington Capitals’ playoff intro is out and it’s straight out of the Marvel playbook.
Presenting the team’s stars as superheroes, the Capitals use a booming, dramatic soundtrack, a lot of red, and highly-contrasted lighting effects to present the players as our hockey saviors.
I love it.
These are your Capitals Avengers: The Great 8, Kuzy, Osh, Holts, Willy, Carly, and Backy.
Now some constructive criticism. Beyond some of the players looking dead behind the eyes, I think the Capitals could have gotten more creative with the nicknames to really nail the superhero theme. Here are my suggestions.
Alex Ovechkin = The Russian Machine
Evgeny Kuznetsov = The Dangler
TJ Oshie = Captain Murica
Braden Holtby = Tortoise Man
Tom Wilson = The Hulk(y Hunk)
John Carlson = The Five Head
Nicklas Backstrom = The Super Swede
You’re welcome.
