Bummer news. Defender John Carlson will not play in Monday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team announced.
Carlson got banged up late in the exhibition game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Carlson participated in practice, but was a game-time decision for today. That decision it turns out is no.
From the Caps:

That leaves the team without its nominal number-one D and ice-time leader. It’s most likely that Radko Gudas will step into the lineup, but we’ll see shortly.
