Caps Russians’ tic-tac-toe passing leads to Evgeny Kuznetsov layup

Three Russian Caps teamed up to restore Washington’s lead in Wednesday’s exhibition game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

If you have been waiting since March for an Orlov-to-Ovechkin-to-Kuznetsov tic-tac-toe scoring sequence, your wait is over.

In a skill-versus-skill match-up with the Aho line, defender Dmitry Orlov sent the puck to Ovechkin in the slot. Ovechkin deftly redirected to Kuznetsov, who was ready for the layup.

Kuznetsov had not scored since February 8, back in the Before Times.

The goal completed a sensational three minutes from Ovechkin who scored 2:07 earlier.
