Twitter broke for verified accounts. Here’s how the Capitals and Nationals coped.

Twitter got hacked on Wednesday night in a bitcoin scam. The accounts of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Apple, among others were compromised, so in an attempt to contain the problem, Twitter prevented all verified accounts from tweeting for several hours.

So how did the Capitals and Nationals cope? I’m glad you asked.

Washington Capitals

The Capitals retweeted the Alex Ovechkin’s famous phrase We not suck from the Twitter account @everyword. Retweeting other accounts was the only publishing function that still worked.

After Twitter came back, the Capitals tweeted a GIF of TJ Oshie playing with an iPad on the bench, simulating him composing and publishing a tweet.

Washington Nationals

The Nationals also retweeted @everyword to create the message cant tweet but still champions. Perfect.

They also retweeted several fan accounts.

Once Twitter was back, they published this.

So that was weird.
