Alex Ovechkin wins NHL’s GIF of the Year

Not only is Alex Ovechkin the Maurice “Rocket” Richard winner, but the future Hall of Famer has also won NHL’s GIF of the Year in the league’s 2020 Fans Choice Awards.

The GIF is entitled “Surprise Ovi.”

Ovechkin won by .2 of a percent (!!!), narrowly defeating Gabriel Landeskog’s Video Bomb 31.1 percent to 30.9.

The other GIFs nominated include Ryan Miller’s (Pewpy) Reaction and Expressive Mark Stone.

It’s the second time over the last three years that the Capitals have laid claim to the fan choice award. Evgeny Kuznetsov and Brett Connolly’s failed fist bump won Best GIF in 2018.
