Ovechkin is the first active Capitals player and the NHL’s biggest superstar to comment on the senseless murder of George Floyd. Nearly three dozen NHL players have taken to social media to demand change and talk about their own personal experiences. The group includes stars like Jonathan Toews, Tyler Seguin, PK Subban, Zdeno Chara, and Anze Kopitar. Former Capitals Devante Smith-Pelly, Mike Green, and Brooks Laich have also voiced their support for anti-racist efforts.
In the words of our captain: “take care of each other.”
