With the United States scuffling through the coronavirus pandemic, the Center for Disease Control has recommended that all Americans wear cloth face coverings in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, such as grocery stores and pharmacies.
If you’re going to rock a face covering, why not rep your favorite hockey team in the process?
On Wednesday, NHL gaiter scarves were released that can be worn over your nose, mouth, and neck. The Washington Capitals’ Weagle logo is featured in two designs.
First, there’s a mini-Weagle pattern in red available.
There’s also a navy blue design that features an oversized version of the Weagle logo.
There are also gaiter scarf designs available for other local teams like the Washington Nationals, Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, Maryland Terripans (the UMD flag is on it), and Virginia Cavaliers. You can view all available face coverings here.
The gaiter scarves are lightweight, soft, and breathable to keep you comfortable. They’re also multifunctional and can be utilized as a neck gaiter, wristband, headband, or ponytail holder. According to FOCO, these face coverings have been wildly popular since they were released last week and are going fast.
According to the CDC, personal face coverings can help prevent the spread of coronavirus if used with other preventive measures. These gaiter scarves are not medical grade and are not a replacement for medical respirators or masks. They were created to be worn as an accessory.
If you’re struggling with money, the CDC has directions on how to sew your own face-covering. You could use an old Capitals shirt or towel.
