After being inspired by the Nationals’ Sean Doolittle and Eireann Dolan, Braden and Brandi Holtby donated 25,000 meals to the hungry through the Capital Area Food Bank on March 19.
On Friday, the Holtbys announced their donation was matched by Capitals fans. They have decided to donate another 25,000 meals to the DC community.
👏🏼👏🏼We did it! You matched our donation & raised over $10,000 for @foodbankmetrodc! We are so inspired by your generosity that we donated another 25k meals for our DC community. We challenge those who are able to help us reach our new goal of $20,000! https://t.co/a42Wuin0VX

“We are proud to support the region’s largest hunger-relief organization, the Capital Area Food Bank,” the couple wrote. “They provide food to nearly 400,000 children and families who face hunger in our region. As school and workplace closures make access to enough nutritious food even more challenging, these children and working families need our help now, more than ever.”
The Holtbys and Doolittles join Michelin star chef José Andrés in the fight against hunger. Andrés recently partnered with the Washington Nationals to turn Nats Park into a community kitchen through his charity World Central Kitchen. World Central Kitchen will be creating and delivering tens of thousands of meals to those in need in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.
