Braden and Brandi Holtby are trying their best to help those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
Thursday afternoon, the Holtbys announced they will be donating 25,000 meals to the hungry through the Capital Area Food Bank after being “[i]nspired by our fellow DC Sports family.”
“As the region’s largest hunger-relief organization, their services are needed now more than ever,” Brandi wrote. “Please help us get to 50k meals!”

Braden and Brandi hope they can get enough support from Capitals fans to double their donation from 25k to 50k with a total $10k donation from the community.
We are proud to support the region’s largest hunger-relief organization, the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB). They provide food to nearly 400,000 children and families who face hunger in our region. As school and workplace closures make access to enough nutritious food even more challenging, these children and working families need our help now, more than ever.
Please join us in donating to the CAFB! Your donations will support the purchase, packaging, and distribution of food boxes for children and families in the DC-Metro Area. Check out https://www.capitalareafoodbank.org/covid19response/ to see more about how they are responding to COVID-19.
If you know of someone who needs food assistance, please have them contact the Capital Area Food Bank Hunger Life Line at 202-644-9807 or https://www.capitalareafoodbank.org/find-food-assistance/.
Thank you!
Brandi and Braden
The Capital Area Food Bank provides 30 million meals every year to the region and works closely with the DC Central Kitchen, which provides at-risk individuals with jobs and skills-training to enter the industry.
The Holtbys are following in the footsteps of Nationals reliever Sean Doolittle and his wife Eireann who donated 25k meals on Tuesday.
To respond to school closures and employment uncertainty @foodbankmetrodc is mobilizing to help during COVID-19. We’re kicking things off with a donation of 25K meals to help families during the pandemic. Help us get to 50K! Here’s how you can help: https://t.co/5pECLLhDJY

With so many kids home from school right now, it’s important to support @foodbankmetrodc to help families in need. We’ve started by donating 25,000 meals, and we hope to double that with your help! Please donate if you’re able: https://t.co/gIBQIPNXGs
