Nic and Paige Dowd announce Dowd’s Crowd logo design contest

Nic Dowd and Paige Dowd, who created the charity Dowd’s Crowd last year, are looking for your help during quarantine to complete their logo.

The couple is asking fans to fill out an outline of a puzzle piece. How you complete the challenge (photoshop, illustrator, crayons) is up to you. It’s a “perfect project for homeschool art class,” Paige said in a tweet.

The winning logo will be used on drawstring bags that are used for Dowd’s Crowd sensory kits. The winner will receive four tickets to a future Capitals home game, a post-game meet and greet with the Dowds, and 10 drawstring bags. Completed submissions should be emailed to capscare@washcaps.com by Friday, May 1. Paige also asked you post your submissions on social media using the hashtag #AutismAcceptance and #MyDCMasterpiece.

The puzzle design can be saved below or downloaded from this text link (save file as).

Brandi Holtby showed off designs her children, Ben and Belle, created early in the afternoon.

She even asked if Braden could participate.

Good luck to all who enter!

More from the Capitals:

ARLINGTON, Va. – In conjunction with Autism Awareness Month, Washington Capitals player Nic Dowd and his wife Paige announced today a logo design contest for their Dowd’s Crowd program.

Fans are encouraged to download a blank puzzle piece outline at WashCaps.com and complete its design. The winning logo will be used on drawstring bags that are used for Dowd’s Crowd sensory kits. The winner will receive four tickets to a future Capitals home game, a post-game meet and greet with the Dowds and 10 drawstring bags. Completed submissions should be emailed to capscare@washcaps.com by Friday, May 1.

The Dowds created Dowd’s Crowd in 2018 to provide the opportunity for children with autism to be able to attend and enjoy a Capitals game. Tickets and a Dowd’s Crowd sensory kit are provided to recipients through Autism Speaks. The sensory kits included noise cancelling headphones, sunglasses, a foam puck and a conversation card to help the child be able to fully enjoy the game without any triggers. The Dowds meet with the ticket recipients postgame.

In addition, to further celebrate Autism Awareness Month, the Dowds are encouraging people who are doing puzzles at home to post pictures on social channels, tag the Capitals and use the #AutismAwareness, #AutismAcceptance and #MyDCMasterpiece hashtags.
