Bethesda Fire Station 6 salutes Alex Ovechkin after scoring 706th career goal

Continuing a tradition started by several Montgomery County fire stations before them, Station 6 of the Bethesda Fire Department saluted Alex Ovechkin after he scored his 706th career goal Monday against the Buffalo Sabres.

Four firefighters from Bethesda posed in front of their number 706 fire truck, strategically placing an NBC Sports Washington Autentic Fan sign on the bumper.

Montgomery County response vehicles all have their numbers in the 700s so they’ve begun taking photos in front of their fire trucks every time Ovechkin scores a new goal.

Ovi’s goal Monday against the Sabres was one his most spectacular tallies of the season. The Russian forward put the puck through the legs of Kyle Okposo before ripping a shot past Linus Ullmark for the goal. It was Ovechkin’s 48th goal of the season.
