New Redskins head coach Ron Rivera attends first Capitals game

New Washington Redskins head coach Ron Rivera was in the house for the Capitals’ 5-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. It was the coach’s first Capitals game.

Rivera attended the game with his daughter Courtney.

At first, the photo appeared to be good luck. Lars Eller scored minutes after Rivera tweeted to give the Capitals an early 1-0 lead. Philadelphia soon took control of the game in the second period, scoring three consecutive goals. After Garnet Hathaway tallied to bring the Capitals back within one, the Flyers added two more goals in the third period to win their seventh straight game.

The Flyers finished the regular season 3-0-1 against the Capitals. The Redskins faired no better against the Eagles last season, losing both games against their NFC rival by a combined score of 69-54.
