The Washington Capitals will honor Alex Ovechkin for scoring 700 goals during a pregame ceremony on Tuesday, February 25. The Capitals will take on the Winnipeg Jets afterward.
According to a release, Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, team president Dick Patrick, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly will be on the ice to salute The Great 8 as well as Ovi’s wife Nastya and his one-year-old son Sergei.
All fans will get 700vi jersey towels.

The jersey features an Ovi 700 goal logo. The celebrating Ovechkin illustration is silhouetted except for his yellow skate laces. The jersey has yellow laces as well.

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals will hold a pre-game ceremony on Feb. 25 against Winnipeg to honor captain Alex Ovechkin for becoming the eighth player in NHL history to record 700 career goals. During the ceremony, Ovechkin will receive a special gift from the organization and the National Hockey League.
Ted Leonsis, chairman and CEO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Capitals president Dick Patrick and NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly will join Ovechkin’s wife Nastya and son Sergei, on the ice to honor Ovechkin.
All fans in attendance will receive an Ovechkin 700vi jersey towel presented by Leidos.
Ovechkin scored his 700th career goal today against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center to become the eighth player in NHL history to reach the 700 goal mark, joining Hall of Famers Mike Gartner (708), Phil Esposito (717), Marcel Dionne (731), Brett Hull (741), Jaromir Jagr (766), Gordie Howe (801) and Wayne Gretzky (894). Ovechkin reached the 700-goal mark in his 1,144th career game, the second-fewest games required to reach the milestone in NHL history.
