Alex Ovechkin is positively on fire. Taking a pass from Nicklas Backstrom, Ovechkin handily beat Marcus Hogberg to inch a bit closer to a yet another historical milestone.
This time, Ovechkin pulls up even with the NHL legend, Mark Messier.
Once Backstrom sets him up, it’s all Ovechkin.

It’s his tenth goal in the last five games. Technically, it’s not a five-game streak though because Ovechkin was suspended one game for skipping the all-star game, but technically shut up.
Ovechkin is now ranked ninth all-time in goals scored, tied with Mark Messier, who scored 694 in 1756 games from 1979 to 2004. Ovechkin is also now one goal behind David Pastrnak for the NHL lead.
