Nic Dowd scores first goal since becoming a dad

Unrepentant criminal Nic Dowd has scored his first goal since becoming a father.

Dowd got the Caps on the board in Sunday’s matinee game against the Sharks with a beautiful rush goal.

It was a complete effort. Michal Kempny started the play in the Caps’ zone, with Hathaway moving it through neutral and Brendan Leipsic setting up Dowd at the goal mouth. Dowd needed only one lovely touch on the puck to beat San Jose goalie Martin Jones.

That’s Dowd’s fifth goal of the season. On the next shift, the fourth line drew a penalty to give the Caps a power play.

Dowd became a father on New Year’s Eve when his wife Paige gave birth to baby Louie. Also, Dowd missed ten minutes of Friday’s game after giving away Andrei Svechnikov’s stick to a fan without permission.
