Corey Perry’s nasty hit, Alexander Radulov’s celly, and more from the 2020 Winter Classic

The Dallas Stars defeated the Nashville Predators 4-2 at the Cotton Bowl on New Years Day. The Stars scored four unanswered goals after the Predators scored twice on a prolonged first-period power play.

There was a fight, a bunch of good hits, one bad hit, some good music, aaaaaand corndogs.

Game Recap

The Stars outhit, outshot, and out-penaltied the Predators.

Walking the Runway

The day began with a resplendent display of men’s fashion as both teams walked the red carpet into the Cotton Bowl.

The Predators wore all black in honor of Johnny Cash.

The Stars went with a “Cowboy Western” theme, which involved a lot of denim, cowboy hats, more denim, and boots.

We’ll just leave this here.

Corey Perry’s elbow

Corey Perry did Corey Perry things and was ejected in the first period for elbowing Ryan Ellis in the face. Ellis did not return to the game.

Hopefully, Ryan Ellis isn’t seriously injured. Also hopefully everyone will watch his awkward walk of shame to the locker room set to music.

Pekka Rinne between the pipes

Pekka Rinne did Pekka Rinne things, including making this save on a penalty shot in the first period.

Rinne made 31 saves on 35 shots.

Alexander Radulov’s Celly

Radulov scored the third goal of the game on the power play and had an excellent bended-knee, fist-pumping, sword-sheathing celebration.

Biggest Hits of 2020 (part 1 of ?)

Austin Watson came into the rink like a wreeeecking baaall, but despite his best efforts, the Stars outhit the Preds 42-26.

Yup. This happened.

Pierre McGuire ate a corndog and Pete Blackburn made a GIF of it and now we’ll never be able to unsee it.

Happy New Year, fam.
