Back from injury, Tom Wilson obviously feels well enough to score a greasy goal from the paint, notching his 13th of the season.
Wilson’s tally tied the game in the first period.
Down 2-1 to the Islanders, Tom and the top line got some good offensive-zone time. Nicklas Backstrom controlled the puck along the margin as Wilson and Alex Ovechkin crowded the crease. A curling Backstrom sent the puck towards them with a quick pass as both wingers took a swing, but it was Wilson who converted.
It’s another primary assist for Backstrom, who led the NHL in apples this decade, and even fancier, it was no-look.
