Jonas Siegenthaler got in his first NHL fight against Nick Foligno Friday night. The Swiss defender did not win the fight, but looked respectable in it.
The two players came to blows on the very next shift after Tom Wilson laid out Jakob Lilja with a big hit in the corner.

Nick Foligno was clearly frustrated after Wilson’s hit. NBC Sports Washington cameras caught the Blue Jackets captain mouthing “okay” sarcastically to Alex Ovechkin as the two players discussed the hit with an official.
On the next shift, Foligno started cross-checking Siegenthaler high as the two players fought for the puck along the boards. Siegenthaler returned fire and HERE WE GO.
Siegenthaler threw the first punch which connected with Foligno’s helmet. The former All-Star MVP threw eight punches after that before earning the takedown.
