The Washington Capitals have come out with a brand-new publication, entitled W Magazine, and it is now available for fans to purchase. The team’s captain, Alex Ovechkin, rocks the cover.
The 2019-20 yearbook includes a feature on each member of the Capitals roster. Also included are featured articles on Ovechkin and his impact on hockey in the DC Area, as well as an article on Tom Wilson’s community program “Forty Three’s Friends.” The magazine also features exclusive photography, including personal photos provided by the players.
“It’s a really cool idea,” Braden Holtby said. “[It goes into] peoples’ interests away from hockey.”

Michal Kempny’s girlfriend, Nicola, showed off a first look of the magazine on her Instagram Story, Tuesday night. She was a fan of the Kempny spread.
The Capitals posted a behind-the-scenes video featuring a look into several of the players’ photos.

Holtby wore a fedora during his shoot.
“That’s always been my thing with fashion: it’s not really for any one else,” Holtby said. “Find your own enjoyment and bring your personality out in it.”
“I think it’s fun,” Jakub Vrana added. “It’s kind of nice to see what everyone wants to wear sometimes. People seeing us with the gear and helmets all the time so it’s nice to show off.”
Fans can purchase the magazine at the Team Stores at Capital One Arena or MedStar Capitals Iceplex for $19.99, or included as a free gift with a $50 minimum purchase at either shop.

A limited run publication, Washington Capitals W Magazine is available for $19.99 (plus tax). In addition, W Magazine will be offered as a free gift with purchase on Dec. 21 at each store when fans buy $50 worth or more of product (before tax). The magazine features exclusive photography, content and interviews on lifestyle topics with each member of the 2019-20 roster. In addition, W Magazine includes a narrative on how Alex Ovechkin changed the landscape of hockey in Washington D.C., authored by Capitals senior writer Mike Vogel, and a profile on Tom Wilson’s community program, Forty Three’s Friends, written by Kim Olsen. W Magazine also features never before seen personal photos provided by Capitals players.
Players were photographed for the publication at 672 Flats managed by KETTLER, Latitude Apartments and at Capital One Arena. Photography services were provided by Patrick McDermott, Greg Powers and Damon Banks.
