Forbes published a list naming the best and worst fanbases in the NHL.
Citing Facebook Likes and a five-year sell-out streak, Forbes named the Pittsburgh Penguins the best fans in the NHL. The Bruins, Blackhawks, Golden Knights, and Sabres make up the rest of the top five. Capitals fans did not make the list.
Here’s what Forbes had to say for naming Pens fans the best.
Thanks to Pens fans the team had a 5-year sell-out streak at the end of last season. Fans also flocked to the TVs, producing the highest local cable ratings in the NHL. The team’s Facebook page has 1.2 million followers — impressive considering it represents 51% of Pittsburgh’s population.
Forbes also named the Pheonix Coyotes fans the worst in hockey followed by the New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Dallas Stars.
