Evgeny Kuznetsov’s hot start to the season continued on Friday as he cut Tampa’s lead in half with a brilliant power-play goal.

With the Caps in a two-goal hole early in the second period, the Caps got their first power-play of the night. They didn’t waste it. As TJ Oshie carried the puck wide along the boards, Kuznetsov tore down the opposite wing. Oshie sent a flawless pass to the far side of the net precisely as Kuznetsov arrived. Tampa goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy didn’t stand a chance.

“That’s a set play,” Kuznetsov said at intermission. “Coach gives us plan before game and we’re just trying to execute.”
After the tally, Capitals’ music director Jordan Greenberg played Get Low by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz. It’s Kuznetsov’s goal song.
The Washington Post’s Samantha Pell first reported Kuzy’s song choice in mid-November.
Kuznetsov wants his new goal song to be “Get Low” by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, but a misunderstanding Monday meant that “How Low” by Ludacris was played after his two goals against Arizona. Kuznetsov quickly made the correction and is now set for his next home goal.
Kuznetsov now sits at 11 goals on the season, in a tie with Vrana for second-best on the team. Vrana recorded a secondary assist on the play, his fourth PP apple of the season– despite not playing on the top unit.
