The Washington Capitals practiced this morning on Thanksgiving ahead of their back-to-back games against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings Friday and Saturday.
After practice ended, Evgeny Kuznetsov took his daughter Ecenia out onto the ice and pulled her around with his hockey stick. Kuzy had a big smile on his face as he did so.

It seems as if Ecenia, like many of the Capitals’ players kids, has caught the ice skating bug just like their dads did many years ago. A reader recently sent us photos last week of Kuzy, somewhat undercover, attending a public skate at MedStar Capitals Iceplex on the Arlington Rink. Kuzy rocked Ecenia’s Frozen backpack.
So today I am thankful not only for my family, but for the fact that many of the Caps players’ sons and daughters are going to be famous hockey players and ice skaters themselves someday.
