Connor McMichael records third hat trick of season, tallies league leading 50th point in only 20 games

Connor McMichael just cannot be stopped in 2019. The Caps most recent first-round draft selection has exploded once again for his third hat trick already this season and a four-point night that gives him 50 points in only 20 games played.

Those 50 points have him one point ahead of Hamilton linemates Arthur Kaliyev and Jan Jenik for the OHL scoring lead. McMichael has played in two fewer games than Jenik and five fewer games than Kaliyev.

McMichael’s 4-point night

McMichael’s first lamplighter of the evening came on a London five-on-three advantage as he slammed home a one-timer from the top of the left circle.

His second goal was a nifty deflection in the slot off of a great feed from San Jose Sharks prospect Ryan Merkley.

The third point of his night was a laser beam assist right to the tape of Jonathan Gruden’s stick in the blue paint.

Lastly, the hat trick goal came on another power play as the Knights put together a tremendous passing play, finished by a McMichael one time rip into an almost empty net.

McMichael continues his insane run in his first year back in the OHL after being drafted, already racking up two player of the week awards, multiple high scoring nights, and as previously mentioned three hat trick outings in only 20 games.
