Andre Burakovsky has 5 goals in his last 3 games, enters NHL’s top 10 in even-strength goals

Andre Burakovsky is Andre ScoringGoalsAtWillski with the Colorado Avalanche.

Burakovsky scored twice in the first period against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday helping lead the Avs to a 3-2 victory.

Goal 1

Andre’s first goal came after a beautiful backhand pass by Nathan MacKinnon. All Burra had to do was hammer the puck home.

Goal 2

Burkie’s second goal of the night came on a snipe. The Swedish forward curled at the right circle and ripped a shot short side past David Rittich.

“When you play with [Nathan MacKinnon], the challenge for the other guys is to find the open ice because when you do, the puck is going to come,” Burakovsky said to NHL.com. “That first play he made tonight, I came from behind and I think he had a pretty good look to shoot too, and he just whipped it over to me and I had a good look from it. You just have to find the ice and be ready for the puck.

“Sometimes that just happens,” Burakovsky added. “Every shot you have goes in somehow. I’ve been playing with great players and they’re giving me a lot of looks. I think I’m putting more pucks to the net than usual than I used to do. It’s working out that way. The more I shoot, the more opportunities I have to score.”

Burakovsky is currently on one of the hottest streaks of his career. Andre has five goals in his last three games and 10 tallies in 21 contests overall. He’s nearly a point-per-game player with 18 points this season.

Burakovsky scored 12 goals the previous two seasons in Washington. It’s amazing what an opportunity with some of the game’s best players and a spot on the right-wing will do for a guy.

Burakovsky is now tied with Capitals top-six forward Jakub Vrana in even-strength goals with 10. Burakovsky is in the top 10 in the entire dang NHL.

The Swedish forward is currently shooting at an insane clip, 23.8 percent, which is well above his career shooting percentage of 13.6. But (!) Burakovsky is only averaging 2 shots per game (42 in 21 games). If Burkie can get the puck on net more, we might see this goal bonanza continue.
