Alex Ovechkin has been in the middle of a few big hits this weekend. Friday, he nailed Jonathan Drouin with a monster open-ice check, injuring the star forward. “It’s hockey… it’s not a ballet,” Ovechkin said afterward.
Saturday, during the second period of Caps-Bruins, Ovechkin was decked in neutral ice by Tom Wilson at full speed.

Wilson was actually trying to steal the puck from Sean Kuraly. As he curled, Wilson slammed into Ovechkin near the red line and both players went crashing to the ice.

Wilson was looked over briefly after the hit and returned with a tampon up his right nostril.

Other than that, both players were okay and laughed about it later.

But please, fellas, try to avoid doing that in the future. Didn’t you see how hard it was to get a 12th forward on the roster this morning? We can’t handle two more injuries!
