In the second period of Friday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, Caps captain Alex Ovechkin positively flattened left wing Jonathan Drouin.
It’s one of Ovi’s biggest hits of his career.

Drouin cut to the middle of the ice as Ovechkin came from the opposite direction with speed. The collision — which appeared to mostly into Drouin’s shoulder — was massive.

The Habs forward left the ice and retreated to the locker room. Ovechkin seemed to have an animated conversation with the officials, but he was not penalized.
What Gene said.
