The Nationals opened the game in the first inning with seven (!) runs. The Nationals batted around and chased Dakota Hudson after the Cardinals starter was only able to record one out.
Here’s a summary of what happened.
After Trea Turner and Adam Eaton got on base, Anthony Rendon plated Turner on a sacrifice fly to get the Nationals on the board 1-0.

Juan Soto followed that with a sharp line drive to left field, driving in Eaton. Victor Robles then hit a single, driving in June Soto. Yan Gomes came up and singled to left field, driving in Howie Kendrick and Ryan Zimmerman. Turner finished the scoring in the first by hitting a single to left field, bringing Gomes home.
One of the most electric moments of the night was when Gerardo Parra pinch hit in the seventh inning, sending the crowd into a frenzy during his walkup song. 40k people clapped their arms up and down along with the Baby Shark song. Parra responded with a single to right field.
