Braden Holtby backed up rookie goaltender Ilya Samsonov in Friday night’s 2-1 win over the NY Islanders. Samsonov put in a strong 25-save debut performance, so there was little for Holtby to worry about from the sidelines.
So he took selfies with fans during the game.
Holtby was not seated on the bench, as Nassau Coliseum is one of the rare NHL arenas that doesn’t have enough room for visiting backup goalies. Instead, Holtby was banished to the corner and had a lonely seat right next to New York Islanders fans.
Good to see Holtby making some new friends!
