The Washington Capitals have dodged a bullet. Christian Djoos is staying in the organization.
The talented Swedish defenseman went unclaimed after being put on waivers on Monday. Veterans Liam O’Brien and Mike Sgarbossa also made it through. All three players were loaned to the Hershey Bears.

The Capitals will save $1.075 million total towards the salary cap with Djoos in Hershey – the max buried cap hit according to Cap Friendly. Djoos’s cap number is 1.25 million.
