The DC United defeated the Seattle Sounders 2-0 in front of a raucous crowd at Audi Field, Sunday night. And by raucous I mean, many members of the Washington Capitals were there to cheer on their favorite MLS team.
Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was joined by Evgeny Kuznetsov, Jakub Vrana, Dmitry Orlov, Ilya Samsonov, Vitek Vanecek, and Alex Alexeyev in field-side seats to root on the United and help #UniteTheDsistrict ahead of the soccer team’s playoff push.
The best part was Ovi had another encounter with soccer legend Wayne Rooney after the game.
But first, let’s run through the highlights. Before the game started, Jakub Vrana took an Instagram Story from the front row.
Ovi posed ridiculously for a DC United photographer when they found him at the game.

Lucas Rodriguez scored in the 14th minute and Frederic Brillant scored the below goal in the 54th minute to give the DC United the win. Rooney assisted on Brillant’s redirection off a free kick.
Here are the full game highlights.
When the game was over, the DC United came over to where the Capitals were hanging out — yes, that’s them wearing the same sports bras the Caps wear — and Wayne Rooney invited Ovechkin and his cohorts to the locker room.
Once there the DC United and the Capitals took a ridiculous photo together.

Last season, Ovechkin first met Rooney at Capital One Arena after the longtime Manchester United forward attended his first-ever hockey game on November 30, 2018. The Capitals defeated the New Jersey Devils 6-3.
Ovechkin, who is a huge fan of soccer, has also met legends Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Pele.
