Alex Ovechkin will be spending the next week in China as an ambassador for the NHL, but before he hopped on a plane, he jumped into a courtside seat at the Alexander Gomelsky Universal Sports Hall located in Moscow.
Ovechkin was in attendance to support his close friend Vitaliy Fridzon, the captain of Russia’s national basketball team, during Russia’s 111-71 beatdown of Jordan.
While there, Ovi fed a small child candy who was sitting across from him. Ovechkin’s personal trainer Pavel was also in attendance and sat in the row behind his client.
What an assist.
Ovechkin is a big fan of basketball. His mother won two Olympic gold medals as a member of Russian’s women’s national team (1976 Montreal Olympic Games and the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games).
Ovechkin reunited with former NBA player and friend Andrei Kirilenko while at the event. Kirilenko is currently serving as the President of the Russian Basketball Federation.
“The biggest fan of the Russian national team, @aleksandrovechkinofficial,” Kirilenko joked in a caption on Instagram.
Ovechkin also took countless photos with fans.
