It’s not even August yet, but several Washington Capitals stars are back on the ice training for next season.
TJ Oshie, John Carlson, and Lars Eller were all skating at MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Tuesday.

The three Capitals also participated in Mitch Korn’s goaltender camp for an impromptu Q/A.

For Oshie, it’s another milestone in his recovery from a season-ending injury he suffered three months ago. Oshie fractured his collarbone during the Capitals’ first-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes after being checked from behind by Warren Foegele. Oshie would have surgery three days later.
At the American Century Championship, Oshie said he was “pretty close to being 100 percent now” and nailed a long jump shot on the 17th hole to prove it.
“I’m good to go,” Oshie said to El-Bashir on Monday. “If there’s anything, I get a little sore in the morning. But I’m good. I’ve been doing full workouts now for a couple of weeks. I’ll be ready to go.”
Oshie added that he would be focusing on his skating primarily but “I could shoot if I wanted to.”
Tuesday, the three Capitals were doing power-skating training with Coach Wendy Marco of Cold Rush Hockey, a former competitive figure skater who is now a skating instructor and trainer.

A Northern Virginia institution, Wendy rose to fame in hockey circles in 2010, after working with local product Jeff Halpern. Halpern publicly credited Wendy for helping him discover an unexpected boost in speed late in his career.
Wendy also served as a skating coach for the Capitals’ former AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates, in 2003 and for the Washington Little Capitals from 1996-2009.
