It’s June 16, Father’s Day, and with many dads on the team–including soon-to-be father Dmitry Orlov–there was a lot to celebrate.
The Capitals started off the day’s feels with a video montage made from moments from the players’ days with the Stanley Cup over the summer, and from their annual Mentor’s Trips.
While Alex Ovechkin spent some of his day flying on some sort of water rocket contraption, Nastya Ovechkina’s dad took care of baby Sergei.
She also posted a series of pictures of Ovi holding Sergei.
The Oshie family celebrated at Sequoia at Washington Harbour, where they were entertained with magic tricks during their meal.
TJ was holding little Leni while Lyla tried to figure out the trick behind the magic.
Lauren Oshie also posted this to her Instagram.
Warroad, a clothing company affiliated with TJ Oshie, shared this.
Dog Dads are dads too, and Nic and Paige Dowd’s fur baby Arlo enjoyed his kisses and cuddle session.
Arlo even left Nic some presents…in the yard…maybe don’t regift those, eh?
Capitals prospect Kody Clark also wished his dad a happy Father’s Day on his Instagram.
Mike Vogel left a very sweet tribute to his father, “who continues to provide veteran leadership and an ongoing road map to our family.”
Former Capital Nate Schmidt joined in.
Former Capitals draft pick and longtime Hershey Bears player, Chris Bourque, wished a happy Father’s Day “to the big dog” Ray Bourque.
The NHL released a short video with a few memorable moments from around the league. The highlight is definitely the Carolina Hurricanes’ dads doing a silly “storm surge” of their own after their sons beat the Dallas Stars during their Father’s Trip.
