The Washington Nationals have been massive supporters of the Washington Capitals through all their recent playoff journeys, especially during their Stanley Cup run last spring. This season, however, Nationals first baseman Matt Adams is stepping up to root on his hometown team, the St. Louis Blues.
Adams, who lives in St. Louis in the offseason, posted a photo on Monday of him and his fiancé Kim Wallis wearing Blues gear.

Adams, nicknamed Big City, has spent his entire career either playing for the St. Louis Cardinals or the Washington Nationals. Adams signed with the Nationals as a free agent on a one-year deal in the winter of 2017, but was traded back to the St. Louis Cardinals at the trade deadline. Electing free agency again, Adams re-signed with Washington in the winter of 2018 on another one-year deal.
Wallis, Adams’ finance, has been to a handful of Blues games this postseason and has quite a superstition going on. After the Game Three loss, Wallis blamed the jeans she was wearing.
“It was the jeans. I wore the wrong jeans….jk. I’m not really serious but I had worn the same pair of jeans to the 2 playoff games and they won. Last night, I had the damn jeans on and changed 🤦🏻♀️ .”
Yesterday, she reposted the photo of Adams and herself, and wrote that she was “wearing the right jeans tonight 🤞.”
Sorry Kim, but I think your team would appreciate you wearing those jeans forever now.
