Just like Capitals’ teammate Jakub Vrana, Lars Eller scored in his first game of the 2019 IIHF World Championship.
Suiting up for Denmark on Saturday, Eller launched a shot from waaaaaay downtown to bring the Danes within one, 4-3, late in the second period.

Eller’s goal came on a wrist shot that eluded screened French goaltender Florian Hardy. Eller broke into a huge smile in the goal hug.
In the third period, Denmark’s Jesper Jensen tied the game, forcing overtime and, five minutes later, a shootout.
Eller was tabbed to take Denmark’s first attempt and scored on a perfectly placed shot.
