Vladimir Putin scores eight goals in charity game then trips and falls over

Russian president Vladimir Putin took part in the eighth annual All-Russian Night Hockey League Festival in Sochi on Friday. Putin tallied a record amount of goals in his team’s 14-7 win (although reports vary about whether he scored eight goals or ten).

He then tripped over the edge of a red carpet while waving to the crowd.

Two of Putin’s teammates seemed to notice the dangerous obstacle ahead of their team captain but were unable to save the miraculously talented goal-scorer from his ignominious fall from grace.

Putin’s eight goals were definitely all strong individual efforts that showcased his talent and were not at all indicative of the other team’s complete lack of desire to earn Putin’s ire.

Putin has a long-standing relationship with Alex Ovechkin. Ovechkin was part of the “Team Putin” movement and Putin sent a present after Ovechkin’s wedding in 2017. Donald Trump also gave Putin an Ovechkin jersey in 2018.
