Brett Connolly gets the Capitals on the board first in Game Six

I have some great news to report. Brett Connolly opened up the scoring in Game Six after a great carry-in by Andre Burakovsky.

This is relevant to your interests because the team to score first has won every game of the Capitals-Hurricanes first-round series. [Crosses fingers, furiously knocks on wood]

Burakovsky created the goal by using his wheels in the neutral zone. The Swedish forward threaded the needle and found Lars Eller with a pass below the goal line. Noticing Sebastian Aho was abandoning the crease, Eller dished to Connolly wide open behind the net. Connolly curled out in front the net and beat Petr Mrazek short side.

What a beautiful goal.

Connolly celebrated by jumping into the boards Ovi style.

This is Connolly’s second goal in as many games. The third liner scored six times in 24 games during the Capitals Stanley Cup run last season.
