When the Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup in June, fans celebrated like there was no tomorrow. There was dancing; there was beer-drinking; and lots and lots of hugging.
In March, nine months after that wonderful, joyous day, storks delivered several new additions to Caps-loving couples across the DMV. The tiny bundles of joy are known as Stanley Cup babies.
Tuesday, the Capitals’ social team recreated several iconic Stanley Cup moments with these week-old babes.
This is the adorable result.
One of the Stanley Cup babies, Braden Taylor, was previously documented and photographed for an RMNB feature in early March. Tiny Braden, who was named after Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby, recreated The Save in his photo.

“We first got invited through a DM by the Capitals Instagram account,” Katie Taylor said. “One of the social media people had the RMNB story and said they were putting together a photo spread for the Capitals social channels promoting the postseason.
“Brandon and I were excited to be contacted, but first thought it might be too much for Braden to handle at three-weeks-old,” Katie continued. “However, this was too cool an opportunity to pass up, and we figured we could the pics would be a great addition to his baby book so we agreed to come up.”
According to Katie, there were five Stanley Cup babies (three girls and two boys) photographedin total. One baby recreated a Cup Stand. Others posed in front of the Capitals Stanley Cup championship banner.
Lots of great things come out of championships — sometimes even babies!

The invite was special for the young couple. The photo shoot occurred at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, the same placed they waited hours outside in the 100-degree heat to take a photo with the Stanley Cup… unknowingly with Braden.
“This was an unforgettable event,” Katie said. “We couldn’t stop talking for days afterward how as Braden grows up and sees The Save hanging in his bedroom, we’d have the chance to tell him the story of how he was brought to us and the beautiful memories surrounding his birth. This is one of those stories he’ll be hearing before bedtimes for years and it’s so unique and really special to us.”
“And now his cool ranking is through the roof and he’s only existed a month,” Katie said. “Can’t get much better than that”
No, it can’t.
