TJ Oshie will not play against the Carolina Hurricanes due to illness

TJ Oshie, the Washington Capitals second leading goalscorer (23g), will miss tonight’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes due to an illness. Oshie also missed the team’s morning skate.

The Capitals PR announced the news during warmups.

“He’s feeling under the weather right now,” Capitals head coach Todd Reirden said after the team’s skate. “We’ll see how he does the rest of the day and whether he’ll be joining us or not.”

Oshie has the same illness that has caused Carl Hagelin to miss a game and Evgeny Kuznetsov to miss a practice.

Andre Burakovsky will take Oshie’s spot on the second line while Tom Wilson will now get time on the first unit powerplay.

Puck drop is a little after 7 pm. The Capitals can clinch their fifth consecutive postseason appearance with a win.
