“Partnering with William Hill US, a leader in both the sportsbook and mobile betting marketplace, provides a tremendous opportunity to further fan engagement,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said.
This is William Hill’s first deal with a major US sports league, although the group has individual deals in place with the Vegas Golden Knights and New Jersey Devils. Their deal with the Golden Knights was the first in NHL history between a sportsbook and team, and their deal with the New Jersey Devils includes a lounge area within the Prudential Center where people can place bets.
“Commissioner Bettman and his team at the NHL have been at the forefront of understanding the opportunities to engage fans through sports betting,” said Joe Asher, CEO of William Hill US. “Combined with our existing partnerships with the Vegas Golden Knights and New Jersey Devils, we are extremely excited to continue to build our relationship with the NHL.”
Earlier this year, DC legalized sports betting, joining Nevada, New Jersey, Delaware, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, West Virginia, New Mexico and parts of North Dakota as supporters of sports gambling.
