Six teams have clinched their spot in the 2018-19 NHL playoffs thus far, but so far none of them have been in the Metropolitan division.
That might change on Tuesday night, as the Washington Capitals have the chance to secure a playoff berth in a tightly bunched division. With 96 points in 76 games played, the Capitals sit just one point ahead of the NY Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins and five ahead of the fourth place Carolina Hurricanes.

The Caps can clinch a playoff berth Tuesday night if these three conditions are all met.
If the Caps clinch, they will have the opportunity to join this very prestigious group:
🚨We have our sixth #StanleyCupPlayoffs berth clinched!🚨

Good luck, Capitals.
