Vitek Vanecek posted his second shutout of the season on Tuesday night, in the Hershey Bears’ 1-0 win over their rival, the WBS Penguins. But the Hershey backup goaltender had to face one more shot in his postgame press conference: a question from New York Post reporter….Ilya Samsonov?
Samsonov trolled Vanecek by pretending to be a member of the media.

According to Chocolate Hockey’s Kyle Mace, Samsonov butted into the press conference to ask the following: “Ilya Samsonov, New York Post. Tomorrow – day off or no?”
But the line of questioning soon turned to Samsonov himself, who shaved his beard recently. Vanecek joked that Samsonov must have cleaned up the facial hair for his girlfriend, who is visiting in April.
“I don’t know, I think he want to just look good, you know?” Vanecek said, laughing. “His girlfriend come in April, I think? So he shave it too early. His family is here, that’s why he shaved it too.”
The two goaltenders have a close friendship. The two call each other “Boss” and “Big Boss” in Russian and earlier in the season Samsonov credited Vanecek as one of the people he is closest with on the team.
