Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin could hit yet another milestone if he reaches 50 goals this season.
With 11 games remaining, Ovi is the only player who is on pace to hit 50 goals. His 48 goals in 71 games is a .67 goal per game pace, and he has 10 games left to hit 50.
Leon Draisaitl, currently in second place for the Rocket Richard trophy, is five goals back (43 g), and has 10 games left. Draisaitl has a goal per game pace of .59.
Alex Ovechkin (48 goals, 10 games left) has a six-goal lead on Leon Draisaitl (11 games) the Rocket Richard Trophy race.
It would be Ovechkin's 8th time leading NHL in goals, breaking tie with Bobby Hull for most in NHL history.
He's also only player on pace to hit 50 goals.

On top of this, Ovi would be the only player in NHL history to have sole possession of five 50 goal seasons. Ovechkin is currently tied with Bobby Hull at four.
IF Ovechkin is the only player to reach 50 goals this season, it would be the fifth time he's done that (2008-09, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16).
Bobby Hull was NHL's sole 50-goal scorer four times.
No one else has had more than one season as the NHL's sole 50-goal scorer. https://t.co/QMs89V76JQ

Per the NHL’s website, these are the top 10 goal scorers in the NHL this season.

Ovechkin’s 50th goal would also pull him ahead of Red Wings great and current president of the Toronto Maple Leafs Brendan Shanahan for sole possession of 13th place all-time in NHL goals.
