Former New York Rangers heel Sean Avery is a noted jerk. Avery was voted one of the most hated men in hockey by the players. He started an infamous beef with Martin Brodeur over commenting on Brodeur’s 2003 affair, calling the Hall of Fame goaltender a “homewrecker.”
Avery also got a rule in the rulebook named after him by facing Brodeur and waving his stick in his face during a powerplay.
So it’s no surprise that Avery had some controversial words for Islanders fans after their treatment of former captain John Tavares, including burning jerseys and throwing snakes on the ice.
Avery addressed Islanders fans in his Instagram story.

Hoooo boy. Here is the rant transcribed in full.
If you don’t wanna hear me talk about hockey, then hit mute. F*ckin New York Islander fans. Calling John Tavares a snake? Throwing snakes on the ice? Who the f*ck are they kidding? That guy played 10 years in that f*cking dump with those s***tty fans, didn’t say a word, was a great captain, never got arrested, didn’t say f*ckin boo. You losers wanna ruin his night coming back to play you guys, what was he supposed to do, lie during the season? Or was he supposed to give the answer all athletes give when they know they’re not coming back to a team? You f*cking greasy Islander f*cks, you guys get out cheered in your own barn by Ranger fans every time the Rangers play the Islanders in Long Island. F*ck you.
Wait, Tavares deserved to be cheered because he “didn’t get arrested?” Oh, Sean. That’s such a low bar.
Steve Dangle pointed out in his LFR of the game that anyone who throws anything on the ice should be banned from that team’s arena, which is a very good take.
Per Steve Dangle, Tavares was open to coming back to the Island, but his agent Pat Brisson made him take meetings with other teams and the Leafs made the best pitch.
The Islanders went on to route the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday 6-1.
