Alex Ovechkin ties Dave Andreychuk for 14th all-time in goals

Roughly halfway through the first period, the St. Louis Blues put the Caps up on a power play, which has been pretty powerless of late.

But with the second unit out on the ice, Dmitry Orlov faked a slapshot, sending the puck to Alex Ovechkin.

By now, we all know what happens when Ovi takes an Ovi Shot from the Ovi Spot™. RIP Jake Allen.

Let’s get that bomb in slow-mo gif, shall we?

Ovechkin gets the puck and rips that patented slap shot over Allen’s blocker. Even when teams know it’s coming, they’ve got no shot.

Here’s the overhead view of Ovi’s 640th.

Look at that signature fist pump from one knee. Ovechkin is a man on a mission.

It was Ovechkin’s 12th goal from his office this season.

By tying Dave Andreychuk at 14th all-time in goals, Ovechkin only needs seven more points to pass Russian great and former teammate Sergei Fedorov for the most points by a Russian-born player.

Adding to the milestone, Ovi now sits sixth all-time in power play goals, passing Red Wing great and current Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan.

The next name for Ovechkin to catch up to in all-time goal scoring ironically is Shanahan, who sits at 656 goals.
